Heidi, Michael, Izzie & Rocky

“We just kind of hit it off, had a good time at the wedding. When we got back in town, I stole her number from the bride and hit her up. She harangued me and accused me of finding her number when I shouldn’t have and hung up on me.”

Michael’s story:

Heidi and I met through mutual friends at a wedding in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She wouldn’t stop hitting on me. No, just kidding. We had been in similar social circles for probably a year and a half, or so. Heidi moved here to Minneapolis for a political campaign. I came home to go to grad school. We just kind of hit it off and had a good time at the wedding. When we got back in town, I stole her number from the bride and hit her up. She harangued me and accused me of finding her number when I shouldn’t have and hung up on me. But I was persistent. Being persistent usually wins them over.

Heidi’s story:

We went to a Twins game together. That was our first date. Michael had just started his company. I just remember being annoyed because he was on his phone a lot during our first date.

Both our families never told us a whole lot about them coming to the United States. We wish we knew more. I know they came to get a better life and have access to more opportunities. This project makes me want to find that out, actually.
