San Francisco to Celebrate Fourth Annual Immigrant Heritage Month June 29-30

New “I Stand with Immigrants” campaign makes its way to San Francisco for a series of pop up events with elected officials, tech leaders

WASHINGTON, DC — Throughout June, Welcome.us has hosted a series of “I Am An Immigrant” pop-up experiences across the country to celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month, a month-long celebration highlighting the incredible contributions that immigrants have made and continue to make to our nation. Celebrities, elected officials, local organizations, and community residents have participated across cities and on social media sharing stories of the crucial ways diverse communities enrich our society and joining a growing coalition across the country that stands with immigrants.

“I Am An Immigrant” has engaged with thousands of people across New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Austin, among other cities. Celebrations will continue this weekend in San Francisco and will be kicked off with a press conference by Mayor Ed Lee on Thursday, June 29. Pop-up programming will include a film screening in partnership with Refinery29, a “Know Your Rights” training, immigrants’ rights education sessions, a children’s art workshop, and a panel with tech leaders.

Since Immigrant Heritage Month kicked off on June 1, the IHM hashtags (#IAmAnImmigrant, #IStandWithImmigrants, #IHM2017 and #ImmigrantHeritageMonth) have resulted in 260 million impressions on social media.
